“The choice of the name Endeavour for this first American Suffolk Horse, Australian bred and born, is firstly in recognition of the three American Suffolk Horse Breeders for their endeavours and altruism in their gift of three Suffolk horse young stock back in May 2018.
“ I said then:
‘I don’t think it is possible to put into words just what the gift of these foals means to us nor the depth of our gratitude. To us it is a statement of belief on the part of the American breeders that here in Australia, we will do the right thing by their young stock.’

“Secondly, the name ‘Endeavour’ has great resonance here in Australia due to HMS Endeavour, commanded by Captain James Cook and his first great voyage of discovery (1768-71) from England to the Southern Hemisphere.
“And thirdly, the modern times link with the Space Shuttle Endeavour (1992-2011) which was itself named after HMS Endeavour.
“Bluegum Endeavour also combines the links not just of relatively recent English blood lines via Sendholm Red Rufus 8869 and Yole Arthur 8830, but the English, American and Australian connection with Laurel Annabelle 28039.
“Our sincere thanks and gratitude to Karina and Aleks Berzins of the Marlie Draught Horse Stud for their care, training and supervision of live coverings whilst the Bluegum Suffolk horses were with them in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
“Bluegum Endeavour will be registered with the North American Suffolk Horse Association (NASHA) and recorded with the Australian Suffolk Punch Registry.”
