A warm welcome to Bluegum Lady Aurora, foaled just as dawn was breaking on 15th February 2019 and possibly the first Suffolk foal for the year.
Bluegum Lady Aurora at two days of age
Sire: Colony Edward 8781 (by AI) Dam: Capleach Eugenie 28530
Sincere thanks to Dr Robyn Woodward, renowned Equine Reproduction Vet of Equivet Breeding Centre, Queensland. This is the second Suffolk Punch foal born by AI, that Robyn has helped us achieve.
Bluegum Lady Aurora is now the fourth young filly at Bluegum Suffolk Horses. She will join her full sibling Bluegum Lady Alice (centre), together with the young Suffolk fillies from America: Cornish Red Aster and Read’s Evergreen Briana.
Bluegum Lady Aurora was named not just for the breaking dawn, but also for Aurora Australis, that beautiful celestial display – the southern hemisphere version of the Northern Lights.
As the sun came up on her first morning……
Only a few hours old, a strong sturdy foal, feeding well
In the meantime, she is occupied as all neonate foals are with feeding, snoozing and beginning to investigate life around her, starting with her dam.
And on the exploration front…… might try a taste of Mum’s ear
…or perhaps not.
And across in another paddock, Bluegum’s young colt from America, Glad Eli, continues to grow and thrive.
